Fusing electro pop, two-step garage and driving bass with her distinctive melancholic vocals and intimate lyricism, Memphis LK has established an irresistible sound “quite unlike anyone else in the country is doing right now.” - Pilerats.
‘Green Light’ is Memphis’ first offering of 2020 - a powerhouse bass-driven anthem that comes with an endearing homemade video created inside her apartment during isolation. Memphis says “Green Light is like driving round in fast cars or being out at a club and dancing with your friends, basically all the things we can’t do while we’re self-isolating right now, so for the video I was trying to think of ways to create different worlds in our apartment and still capture that energy without having to leave the house. Turns out you can have a pretty okay time dancing alone with a projector in the lounge room.”

This one took a few listens. The first time, it went in all at once, like a corkscrew punched through the soft slab of abdomen, there on my side. I hardly noticed. Then it started to jiggle and wriggle around in there, and slowly — twist by twist, track by track — I came to realize what a bloody, brilliant mess I had on my hands. veryvery
You know, it wasn't my favorite for a while, but for some reason i decided to listen to it on loop a few weeks ago and now I can't stop thinking about it.
I love the synths, the tone, the lyricism, even the music videos which I feel I should mention!!!
(also, should've been me reminds me a bit of abba which is an automatic bonus in my book) praisedrays
